About the Role:

As a Senior Database and Data Platform Administrator, the primary responsibility is to ensure that database servers and cloud data platforms are maintained and secured to provide optimal services to users and application owners.

Your Responsibilities:

Operation and support of Microsoft SQL databases including:
- Installation, setup and configuration of SQL database servers
- Monitor and troubleshoot database backups, disk space, and server availability.
- Setup, configuration and management of SQL replication
- Work closely with other departments to ensure platform stability and optimal performance
- Deploy service packs and vulnerability security patches
- Provide database technical support to business users related to designing and implementing DB schema and procedures
Installing, configuring and maintaining data platform environments focused primarily on an Azure ecosystem using toolsets such as (but not limited to):
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Databricks clusters
- Azure Data Lake (Gen 2)
- Power BI administration
- Azure SQL (PaaS)
- Azure DevOps
- Azure Synapse
Respond to tickets, change requests and customer requests in a timely manner
Flexible and able to facilitate an on-call rotation schedule for incident response and maintenance activities.

Your Qualifications

You are passionate about system level troubleshooting and have the desire and ability to jump into new technologies to drive incident/problem resolution.
Degree in computer science, business or another IT related discipline
7+ years of experience in Database Administration on SQL Server 2012 and newer
Hands on experience in Always-On Availability Groups (AAG) and HA/DR Troubleshooting
Hands on experience with SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, T-SQL scripting and SQL trace
Expertise in writing complex database queries
Extensive knowledge working with Microsoft Azure ecosystem
Strong knowledge about Azure Databricks, ADLS, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse
Strong knowledge maintaining Power BI environments including Data Gateways, Workspace administration and configuration, promotion process
Experience working with Azure DevOps code repositories and pipelines
Experience with PowerShell, ARM templates, Terraform and Python is an asset
Problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Excellent work ethic, client-centric, and professional conduct when interacting both within and outside of the team
A focused, proactive and detail-oriented approach to completing tasks with good organizational and time management skills
Ability to work on multiple tasks both independently and within the team according to existing priorities
Share workload and willingness to assume new responsibilities with changing business and technology requirements
Good communication skills, both oral and written, ability to write routine business correspondence and reports
Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities
