BRANCH: Transit & Fleet
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week
SALARY RANGE: Start Rate: $28.62/hr. – 3 month: $30.53/hr. – 6 month: $31.80/hr.
Basic Function: Reporting to the Supervisor of Transit & Fleet, this position is reponsible for the
inspection, operation, maintenance, service and repair of amusement rides as well as assisting in the
shop in repair of equipment and vehicles. This position is also responsible for assisting and providing
support in implementing the Srategic Plan.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates, inspects and maintains rides to ensure proper functioning.
Performs daily, weekly, monthly and annual inspections as requried by the Operating & Maintenance
manuals.
Keep a daily log of all inspections and work required.
Performs preventive maintenance, service & repair of rides.
Keep a daily log of maintenance work performed as well as accurate records of preventative
maintenance.
Assist mechanics in the shop in repair of equipment and vehicles.
Must adhere to all health and safety policies as oulined by the Zoo including use of all proper PPE.
Performs all duties in complinace with industry standards, Occupational Health & Safety Act,
legislated regulations and recommended equipment/manufacturer’s guidelines.
Other duties as allocated by Supervisor or their designate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a TSSA certification (ADM-AR – Ride Mechanic Certificate).
Possess more than 5-years of experience in a similar role, including being responsible for installation,
inspection, controls, repairs and maintenance of amusement devices and associated equipment.
Knowledge in other trades such as electricity, pneumatics, electronics, welding, hydraulics and basic
equipment repairs would be an asset.

Must be capable of meeting the physical demands of the job.
Must be able to withstand varying climatic conditions both indoors and outdoors.
Must be able to read and utilize technical manuals, schematic drawings and electrical plans.
Must be knowedgeable in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS legislation.
Must have a working knowledge of codes and regulations affecting their work.
Possess a valid Class G driver’s licence valid in the Province of Ontario along with a good driving
record (e.g. driving to various locations offsite and onsite in a Zoo vehicle).
Must be able and willing to work shifts, weekends and holidays.
Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
Must be a team player and be willing to teach other staff in ride inspections and repairs, as well as be
willing to learn how to perform and repair equipment and vehicles in a garage setting.
