The Princess Margaret Genomics Centre (PMGC; www.pmgenomics.ca) is one of Canada’s largest genomics services providers. We are seeking a permanent full-time Research Technician II to join our epigenomics services group. Working under the direction of senior staff, the successful applicant will utilize standardized laboratory techniques and procedures in genomics and molecular biology applications; perform experiments and analysis with particular focus on epigenomics assays using techniques for both bulk population and single cell analysis; and communicate and maintain records of experimental data. As an integral member at the Genomics Centre, a core facility, the research technician must be dedicated and result-driven and will be involved in all aspects of service projects, following and writing SOPs and meeting target deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • At minimum a BSc or MSc in genomics, molecular biology or related discipline preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience with molecular biology laboratory techniques such as:
    • PCR reaction set up and purification
    • Mammalian cell counting and characterization via microscopy
    • Experience in epigenetics assays such as ATAC, Cut &RUN, Hi-C is an asset
    • Next-generation/deep sequencing techniques is an asset
    • Experience with single cell genomics techniques is an asset
  • A successful candidate will also have:

    • Ability to work independently and accurately under deadlines
    • Ability to interact and communicate with clients clearly and efficiently
    • Meticulous and detail-oriented
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a team environment
