Salary Range: $24.61 to $30.76 per hour commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN Compensation Policy
Status: Temporary Full-Time (up to 2 years)

Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician I will perform routine and moderately complex laboratory functions and experiments. Experience in standard biological laboratory techniques and animal handling is essential. Responsibilities include: compiling data from related and/or unrelated sources; performing simple analyses and experiments; communicating and maintaining records of experimental data; monitoring and maintaining lab chemical/cell stocks and/or equipment; ordering and maintaining inventories of supplies, animals, and/or equipment; may be required to perform animal venipuncture (appropriate education is required).

Qualifications

  • At minimum, completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a health or science-related discipline
  • At minimum, six (6) months related work experience in a laboratory setting
  • General technical knowledge and skills to perform routine, standardized laboratory research techniques and procedures required
  • Experience in cell culture and molecular biology preferred
  • A willingness to learn new techniques and technologies
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and accurately under deadlines
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a team environment
