Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and interpret CAD designs, drawings and specifications for machines and components
- Conduct site inspections, measurements and approvals;
- Prepare cost and material estimates, project schedules and reports;
- Assist site engineers with metal fabrication work
- Work with custom fabrication techniques (lathe, CNC mill, laser cutting, welding and 3d printing)
- Installation of large scale mechanical and electrical systems
- Work with production team members to investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems
- Source and obtain price quotations from suppliers and prepare purchase requests
- Complete any special projects as required.
Qualifications:
- 0-2 years previous related experience
- Knowledge or practical experience with vacuum systems is an asset
- High mechanical aptitude
- Proficient using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software
- Welding experience is an asset (Stick, TIG or MIG)
- Working knowledge of fabrication techniques (jigs, fixtures, fitting and machining)
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills;
- Self-motivated and adaptable;
- Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team;
- Ability to multitask several projects at once, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Education:
- Mechanical engineering Technologist or Millwright certification
