Position: Menu Clerk
Site: University / Bickle Centre- Toronto Rehab

Reports to: Supervisor
Salary Range: $21.91 – $24.29 (Start rate: $21.91 per hour in accordance with collective agreement requirements)
Hours: Up to 22.5 hours bi-weekly; various shifts (7:30am-3:00pm, 10:30am-6:30pm and alternate weekends as required
Status: Permanent Part-time
As an integral member of the Nutrition Department, the principal responsibilities of the MENU CLERK includes: delivering patient meals to units and pick up soiled carts at the BC Site; understand patient meal delivery/schedule; assemble patient meal trays according to compliance; read and understand orders in CBORD/EPR system; update diet order information in the patient card files; writing and updating central feeding tickets, in accordance with established protocols: receiving and processing dietary requests from nurses, ward clerks, dietitians and patients on a continuous basis; generating required print jobs from the computerized patient information system; performing cross-functional duties as assigned and/or required; performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
At minimum, completion of high school or recognized equivalent
Previous experience in a hospital food service department including tray preparation preferred.
Proven knowledge of therapeutic diets. Completion of a food & nutrition program or equivalent strongly preferred.
Experience with CBORD diet office systems an asset.
Food Service Worker Certificate preferred
Food Handlers Certificate preferred
Ability to read/understand short notes, brief forms and memos
Basic computer knowledge preferred
Communicate with patients, nursing & dietitians to clarify patient requests, preferences and diet restrictions
Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job: able to lift up to 5 kg, pushing heavy food trucks during pickup and delivery of meals
Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy
Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
Will be required to work on weekends and statutory holidays
Will be required to work at multiple sites as well as rotating shifts in emergency situations
