Jr. Microbiologist #2

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducts microbial enumeration of finished product, intermediates and environmental samples according to established Test methods to evaluate quality and safety and conducts further analysis if required
• Media preparation and sterilization, laboratory housekeeping
• Evaluate and interprets microbial results including preparation of Micro related CoA as required
• Identification of microorganism using a variety of methods
• Conduct environmental monitoring and prepare monthly report
• Perform additional test to Company required, validation, etc.
• Retest and resample products when required
• Report OOS to management and prepare rejection reports when needed
• Performs Quality Control on media by growth promotion, prepare reagents, utensils and test kits
• Performs team tasks as required to maintain effective team operations
• Oversees the efficient operation of the microbiology lab and serve as the site’s primary technical resource
• Provides training and technical support to laboratory operators relating to microbiological methodologies
• Observes and executes all laboratory safety and security policies and regulations; including location and use of safety equipment, evacuation routes, disposal of contaminated metrical
• Maintains knowledge of safety/WHMIS procedures
• Assists in problem solving related to workflow and provide input as required at team meetings
• Participate in related team functions (ie. team meetings, special projects, audits, problem solving and decision making)
• Update SOP
• Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in microbiology or equivalent science with microbiology courses is mandatory.
• Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques and media preparation and culture maintenance.
• Minimum 2-year experience of performing microbiological on cosmetics or pharmaceutical formula
• Knowledge of current USP, EU and ISO challenge and micro test procedures.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Must have an excellent aseptic technique.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks and to prioritize effectively
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Problem-solving abilities
• Experience in cosmetics, pharmaceutical or food processing environment preferred
