Grand Challenges Canada is seeking an Information Technology Analyst to join our IT team. Reporting to the Manager, Information technology, you will act as first-line IT support, assisting senior management and other end users with basic troubleshooting of professional computers and on-premise technology.
The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Information technology or equivalent. You will also have a minimum of 3 years of experience in IT Support, providing technical and application support within an organization. Your organizational skills will include involvement in working on collaborative initiatives with other teams of both technical and non-technical team players. You should be able to research, plan, configure, install, and implement new and upgrade initiatives both independently and in a team. Also, you should be able to work with a sense of urgency, handle pressure, and manage a varied workload with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Providing exceptional customer service in-person, via phone, and/or email as appropriate
- Setup, configure and standardize end-point devices, including but not limited to, workstations, laptops, smartphones, printers, and peripherals
- Installing, configuring, and supporting the client component of a variety of approved hardware and applications
- Resolving the end user’s technical issues and service requests on time
- Logging all support requests and follow up detail into an internal ticketing system
- Creating recovery media and backups of workstations, servers, and appliances, as required
- Monitoring and enforcement of the company’s anti-virus policy on individual workstations
- Troubleshoot and maintain a network, Wi-Fi, and telephony connectivity
- Audit and inventory of all computer assets
- E-mail configuration and support for staff.
- Other duties as required and assigned/approved by the IT Manager
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills to provide the highest level of support on technical issues to end-users
- Strong organizational skills and ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergencies effectively
- Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate technical/complex information to technical and non-technical users
- Strong diagnostic and analytic skills
- Strong team player and the ability to work independently
- Undergraduate degree in Information technology or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of experience in IT Support
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Windows Desktop and Server Operating Systems
- Experience in administering LAN/WAN environments including video conferencing and VPN
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP in LAN/WAN technologies
- Experience administering Active Directory and Microsoft Office 365, including SharePoint and Exchange
- Proven ability to do desktop and server hardware troubleshooting, including network cards, disk drives, RAM, video cards, etc.
- Basic understanding of IT Security principles and best practices
- Must be legally able to work in Canada
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Must be detailed oriented and able to plan/prioritize tasks and projects
- Must be able to work independently and with a remote team with minimal supervision
- A highly motivated and analytical person with excellent interpersonal skills and the and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to assess problems to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem
- A+, Cisco and Microsoft certifications would be an asset
