Hours of Work: Temporary Casual (Up to 6 month contract) – various shifts – Multiple positions available and must be flexible and available to work up to full-time hours
Purpose of the Position:
To assist in the health surveillance screening of staff, patients and visitors to the various UHN locations. Must be available to be scheduled for shifts that occur seven days a week, 24 hours per day. Early morning, weekend and evening availability is essential. Shifts include 6:00 am start times, and some are overnight.
o Screens patients/visitors/staff at all hospital entrances following established site procedures
o Welcomes patients / visitors and instructs them to sanitize hands as they enter and to follow current hospital guidelines ie. masking, etc… for entry into the hospital
o Assists patient and visitors on the proper way to don a mask, if required
o Assists patients and visitors as needed to direct and occasionally accompany them to their intended destinations
o Responds to patient and visitor queries and concerns in a professional, respectful and courteous manner.
o Follows the procedures outlined for dealing with patients/visitors who fail the screening process
o Checks ID badges and instructs staff to sanitize hands on entering the hospital and to follow current hospital guidelines ie. masking
o Directs staff who do not meet screening criteria to go home and follow up with their supervisor
o Responds to staff queries and concerns in a professional, respectful and courteous manner
o Replenishes and ensures appropriate levels of stock items are available
o Works with the site supervisor to maximize the efficiency in screening areas
o Helps to implement changes in screening processes
o Attends meeting and working groups
o Performs other administrative duties as required.
