Job Title: Health Surveillance Screener

Hours of Work: Temporary Full Time (up to 6 months) – various shifts – Multiple positions available
Purpose of the Position:
To assist in the health surveillance screening of staff, patients and visitors to the various UHN locations. Must be available to be scheduled for shifts that occur seven days a week, 24 hours per day. Early morning, weekend and evening availability is essential. Shifts include 6:00 am start times, and some are overnight.
Responsibilities:
Screens patients/visitors at Patient Entrances following established site procedures
Welcomes patients / visitors and instructs them to sanitize hands as they enter
Assists patients and visitors as needed with completing their screening forms
Assists patients and visitors as needed to direct and occasionally accompany them to their intended destinations
Assists patients and visitors to de-mask and do final hand sanitizing as they leave.
Responds to patient and visitor queries and concerns in a professional, respectful and courteous manner.
Follows the procedures outlined for dealing with patients/visitors who fail the screening process
Checks ID badges and instructs staff to sanitize hands on entering or leaving work
Directs staff who do not meet screening criteria to Occupational Health
Ensures staff who will be moving between sites or leaving/returning work have correct identification and designations
Responds to staff queries and concerns in a professional, respectful and courteous manner
Replenishes and ensures appropriate levels of stock items are available
Works with the shift coordinator to maximize the efficiency in screening areas
Helps to implement changes in screening processes
Attends meeting and working groups
Performs other administrative duties as required.
