POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Manager of Health Records Services at UHN, the Health Records Supervisor provides effective supervision of Health Records staff, ensuring timely provision of services related to chart completion, release of information and chart management duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direction and support for Health Records staff, clarifying departmental processes and acting as escalation point person for day to day operational issues.
Coordinates training, orientation and appropriate system access for new and existing staff.
Acts as a subject matter expert for Health Records applications including UHN’s HIS Health Records functionality, scanned documents, chart management processes, chart location and release of information.
Acts as a department resource person disseminating relevant information to staff through meetings, emails, learning sessions, etc.
Assists Manager with departmental planning activities that align with DIGITAL UHN Strategies.
Attends and presents at monthly departmental staff meetings, acts as facilitator in Manager’s absence.
Represents Health Records at various corporate wide meetings, working groups and committees.
Coordinates and manages students and volunteer activities
Participates in establishment and completion of annual goals and objectives for Health Records Services.
Maintains effective interpersonal skills to work with physicians, co-workers and staff in a positive co-operative manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successfully completed an approved Health Information Management Program and a current member of CHIMA
Knowledgeable with various legislation eg. PHIPPA, ECFA, PHA, FIPPA, MHA, etc.
3 years supervisory experience in a Health Information Management environment
Knowledgeable in WinRecs Med2020 ROI/chart locator module
Expert use of computer software applications and peripheral equipment eg. Windows, Excel, Power Point, MS Outlook, MS Project, MS Visio, MS Access.
Effective interpersonal, written and communication skills, with an ability to set priorities in a busy work environment.
Excellent organization, time management and problem solving skills.
Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience in a computerized Health Care Management Environment would be an asset.
