Position: Financial Analyst III (Experienced financial analyst)
Site: Atrium on Bay Department: Technology & Innovation
Reports to: Financial Business Manager
Hours: 37.5 Hours per week
Salary Range: $70,492 – $88,120 per annum
Status: Temporary full time (8-12 months) – potential to move to permanent role
As a member of the Technology & Innovation Finance team and reporting to Financial Business Manager, the Financial Analyst III performs a broad scope of professional accounting activities and will have the following responsibilities :working with senior finance management or directorates in the evaluation of assigned business cases; assisting with the preparation of the annual operating budget for assigned business area; preparing monthly/quarterly packages for senior management to facilitate the decision making and financial reporting process; supporting client groups; performing cross-functional duties and other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Perform financial management responsibilities for various Digital programs.
- Provide sound and timely information to the management team to facilitate optimal decision making
- Review and prepare annual operating budget and periodic forecasts for assigned directorates
- Prepare monthly/quarterly financial packages for management to facilitate the decision making and financial reporting process
- Working with business area managers and directors to prepare a preliminary assessment of risks & opportunities in business portfolio
- Prepare formal written and oral presentations to internal and external decision makers
- Assist audits, perform in-depth written analysis, prepare & publish SBAR
- Identify accounting issues, process issues and make solid recommendation
- Assist manager and director on monthly/quarterly financial review process including: providing financial information, requested management reports; assist with follow-up of actions plans
- Perform other responsibilities to support client groups
- Lead, actively participate and contribute in interdisciplinary meetings with different client groups
- Perform cross-functional duties, as assigned or requested, including providing back-up support for other financial analyst, as required
- Perform other duties consistent with the job classification such as business analysis and cash modeling, as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree in Business Administration or equivalent program
- Professional accounting designation (CPA), OR relevant combination of education and experience
- 5 years’ experience in large complex accounting or auditing environment with exposure to a range of accounting principles, practices and procedures required
- Experience in financial planning and analysis required
- Experience in an accounting or auditing environment with exposure to financial statement preparation and analysis preferred
- Experience with information technology control processes and systems preferred
- Experience with activity, workflow and organizational analysis for business/process re-engineering or efficiency improvements required
- Advance level Excel skills required
- Working knowledge of Access preferred
- Experience in a healthcare environment preferred
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills required
- Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills required
- Excellent knowledge of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant accounting standards required
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills required
- Ability to take initiative and embrace challenges required
