BLT Construction Services is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Construction Clerk to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will support project teams by ensuring efficient construction sequences, maintaining site organization, and upholding safety standards. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid understanding of construction science.

  • General Requirements:
  • Thoroughly understand all scopes of work from a construction science perspective.
  • Provide accurate direction for efficient and proper construction sequence of site work.
  • Independently troubleshoot general issues and find solutions without cost, schedule, or design/engineering impact.
  • Suggest efficient means and methods to execute certain scopes of work.
  • Follow proper construction procedures and work efficiently with the BLT team, Consultants, subcontractors, landlords, Clients, and other parties.
  • Understand project-related building codes, by-laws, and health requirements.
  • Maintain professional conduct and clear communication with all parties.
  • Onsite Responsibilities:
  • Ensure site organization and that all the latest drawings and documents are up-to-date and accounted for on site.
  • Maintain Health & Safety standards, including:
  • Coordinating with the Project Coordinator to maintain the Site Safety Board.
  • Ensuring that all subcontractor documents related to Health & Safety and Ministry of Labour requirements are on site.
  • Attending weekly Site Safety meetings and producing minutes for distribution.
  • Assisting in providing completed reports to Health and Safety Officer for COR™ reporting.
  • Documenting and filing safety issues, notices to comply, infractions, or incidents per M.O.L. and BLT health and safety policy.
  • Assist the Project Team in achieving project milestones by:
  • Reading project schedules and understanding impacts of delays, identifying opportunities to make up for lost time.
  • Reviewing current schedules and providing solutions/options for schedule recovery.
  • Following up with all parties, including BLT Consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to get timely responses.
  • Ensuring that project tasks relayed by the BLT Project Team are completed on time.
  • Support Project Team in controlling project quality and costs by:
  • Enforcing the highest level of construction quality and workmanship.
  • Understanding scopes of work as explained by the Project Team.
  • Ensuring extra cost impact changes go through a formal approval process.
  • Receiving and coding all material and equipment delivery waybills/receipts daily.
  • Assist in controlling site management by:
  • Sending Requests for Information and following up for timely responses via the ProCore system.
  • Creating task lists to plan for the next day and weekly look ahead.
  • Fully utilizing ProCore project management software and other construction management tools.
  • Managing the Submittal process.
  • Documenting and managing deficiencies at the end of a project, ensuring they are addressed promptly.
  • Ensure on-site as-built drawings are up to date.
  • Work with the Project Manager and team members to review/assess risk items, documenting and relaying information as required.
  • Be familiar with all inspections by governing bodies/inspectors/agencies, assisting in confirming required reports and responses.
  • Prepare the site/meeting room area for meetings by organizing the space, placing relevant drawings and documents, printing and distributing documents, and ordering office supplies as needed.


  • Demonstrated understanding of construction science and related scopes of work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with construction-related building codes, by-laws, and health requirements.
  • Proficiency in using construction management software such as ProCore.
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct and correspondences.
